Keith Urban Pre Game Show Meets the Black Eyed Peas Halftime show

A Dallas Hotel has been reserved for what is already being branded

'Texas' Largest Tailgate Party.  Get ready for something BIG, music and football fans!

As everyone knows, even before Super Bowl "XLV",  The Lone Star state does

everything in "XL" or "Extra Large".  So, it makes sense that this year's extra large

Super Bowl, will be held this coming Sunday, February 6th, in Dallas Texas.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to meet the Green Bay Packers on FOX!

Scheduled Pre-Game Entertainment includes, three country performers;

Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, and Jack Ingram.

Music fans can also expect to see Ke$ha, Pitbull, The Fray, Nelly, and Lifehouse.

One of Billboard's hottest, Maroon 5, will also join the tailgate show and Pre-Game

Concert, to be held at, what is temporarily being called, the "Bud Light" Hotel.

Aloft Hotel, in downtown Dallas, will hold nearly 4,000 guests, but this Sunday, only 21 and over.

The party which is in full swing, began yesterday, February 3rd,

and will run through Sunday, February 6th.

And, the BIG question...

Who Will Be The Featured Halftime Performer?

GET READY FOR IT ...

It is, The Black Eyed Peas! We are extremely excited to see what

this incredible hip-hop group and their band member/producer

and multi-instrumentalist, Wil.i.am has in store for Super Bowl Sunday 2011.

Did Aguilera "Burlesque" the National Anthem

Can anyone make a mistake these days without it going

international within seconds?  Of course not!  And

judging by the complete Media "Blitz" (no pun intended?

Oh come on, we're New Country Star, and puns

just write themselves around here).  But back to the

story, judging by the media's reaction and fan's reaction to Aguilera's Super Bowl Anthem Flub, by early Monday

morning, there was nary a soul on Earth, who hadn't

heard the news.  "The news", which amounted to

little more than an artist forgetfully, and nervously

repeating the line of a song.  But, it was however,

our countries National Anthem, and the President of

the United States was watching! So, after a short time

with no response from Aguilera's publicist, finally

the singer issued an apology for fudging the lyrics

to the anthem. Well, we're glad she finally issued a

statement, at least to put all the hubbub to rest.

Personally, what bothered me a little more than the

botched lyrics, was the artist's actual performance.

It was a bit over-the-top for my taste.  It kind of

reminded me of one of the kids who tryout for

American Idol based on the single fact that they

can project (belly out loud vocals). Seems so many

singers today, confuse decibels with octaves.

Maybe a little of that has come from Reality shows like

Idol.  Screaming is screaming, and it has its place,

but a great vocalist can be measured by passion

and soft melodic tones still create goose bumps!

No Matter What Your Taste

Two Very Different Styles Each Destined For Stardom

How many times a day do I want to

say "Stop Talkin That" or "Blah Blah Blah"?

Well depends on the company,

but thank ya Ke$ha for the song.

Wait up country music fans!

Think Ke$ha has nothing to do with

what you like to listen to???

Ha! Ke$ha is courtesy of area

code (615) for real.  Not sure

when the Valley girl accent came in

and the Nashville accent split, but

it doesn't really matter because it's

workin' for Kesha Rose Sebert.

See this "Electropop" 23 year old

singer/songwriter was literally a baby

brought up watching her songwriter

momma Pebe Sebert working for the

likes of Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash,

Merle Haggard and other Nashville

"Elite".  Ke$ha's baby carriage in fact,

was her mother's guitar case.

Ke$ha doesn't know who her daddy

is and neither does mom Pebe, but

neither seem to mind and not that

Dads aren't important, but Ke$ha,

her mom and siblings are doing fine.

Does she want to find Dad?

Well, in her own words...

"what if he's a loser".

CRAIG CAMPBELL REVIEW

By Glee

I had not heard of Craig Campbell when I was asked to

listen to his recent debut digital EP “Five Spot”

and write a short review of what I think about it.  I gotta

say that I am truly impressed with this not-so-new

newcomer to the country music scene.  Apparently

Craig has been playing in Nashville since 2002 at

honky tonks like The Stage, and been delighting

audiences around town.  He has a truly delightful

sexy baritone voice with a real old country sound

that this writer really likes.  I even liked all 5 of the

offerings on Five Spot”, and I am sure this guy’s

going to be around a long time.  His first single

Family Man which he wrote about his own experiences

as a father is already being heard around the country,

and is one of the five.  Craig Campbell has a contract

with Bigger Picture Group now, and I for one am

looking forward to hearing a lot more of this “old”

genuine country sound from him.  I also liked

When I Get It”, “My Little Cowboy”,

“I Bought It”  and the cleaver “Chill-Axin”.

Since there seem to be a lot of fives in this offering

I think we'll go ahead and throw in another.

Five Stars!

Bret Michael's Country Album News

"Once a Cowboy Always a Cowboy"

By: Sara Jo Anthony

(Continued)

But what is it then, that makes this

upcoming album more "country"

than any of his earlier records, and what

makes it newsworthy as his "first"

country offering.  Even Michaels

himself, is making it an announcement

as if it is something he's doing for the

first time.  So what are we all missing?

Ah, wait! There it is, the

one thing that is different this time,

marketing.  Pure and simple.  This time

rather than the the gaudy green

and purple rock and roll covers,

this will be rusty or wood grained?

Maybe, but however it appears when

it's put on the shelves it's going to be

filed under "country."   So, while the

boundaries of the genres get more

and more hazy, one thing that hasn't

changed and probably never will

is that we don't decide what's in

our country music or in our rock

and roll, someone does that for us.

Or, maybe we have more of a say

than we think... after all, we sure got

Jessica Simpson put back where

she belongs, and I'm sorry but even

sporting the cowboy boots, the

only horse I want to see Jon Bon Jovi

on is his "steel horse" because nothing

about his band or their sound was

ever country to me.  And that's okay,

because we need our rock and roll.

I just don't think every rocker needs

to roll into Nashville, it's not the only town to

make great music, and quite frankly,

it's crowded enough.  A zebra can't

decide halfway through his life that

he wants to lose the stripes, anymore

than a musician can decide he or she sings

country music.  Despite the blurry genre lines

these days, "Country" is something you are

born with not something you can become.

Besides, if you Rock then you probably were

meant to Rock and if you Pop well just keep Poppin.

Have Your Own Thoughts

on this Story?

We'd love to hear from you.

Somethin' in the lyrics, somethin' in

the voice, somethin' in the soul of

a song... that's what makes it

country, that's what makes an

artist country.  In spite of the fact

that I hate stereotypes and because

of the fact that I hate them, I take

umbrage when our counterparts, write

that Bret Michael's is going to put out

his first "country" record?  Whoa

(insert record scratching halt), let's

pull the record back to the beginning!

1989, at the height of his band Poison's

success, and take a look at an acoustic

performance on the Arsenio Hall show

featured left.  Was that any less country

than David Allen Coe, writer of Garth's

"The Ride" and singer and songwriter

of "You Never Even Called Me By

My Name"?  Although he hails from

Pennsylvania, Bret even had the drawl

in his vocals from the beginning.

Of course, southern drawl and ones

speech is attained and largely

influenced by parents, relatives

and their backgrounds.  But the

distinct "Bret Michaels" pronunciation

of thorn was "thown" in 1989 just as it

is today when he croons the

ballad.  The lyrics, "every cowboy sings

a sad sad song," didn't seem to make

anyone the wiser then or now, but why?

The long hair?

But we just mentioned David Allen Coe,

and what about Big Kenny

Alpin, Jason Michael Carroll, Waylon

Jennings, and Willie!  It's common

knowledge Bret has worked with Jessica

Andrews several times over the course of

his career and Andrews is notably

an American Country Music singer

born and raised in Tennessee.

So we've established Bret was country,

is country and has always been country,

just like Skynyrd's Van Zant brothers

and CCR's John Fogerty.  Nobody

could argue that any of those good

'ole boys would be out of place bellied

up to a bar on Broadway right next to

Haggard slamming back a shot of Jack.

Disagree  with your take

on BonJovi they made a great

country song and Jon can ride

any horse and look and sound good

you don't get music if you don't

see that.

Very excited and interested to

see the outcome of Bret

turning out the kind of music

"he" was born to make.

You go girl!  Brave, very brave.

Keith Wants To...Put You In a Song!

We imagine all the ladies are glad to hear these lyrics,

and to see Keith Urban back at the top of his game.

He really looks like he's back in the saddle.

With his new song described in his own words,

as having a Celtic rhythm and beats as aggressive

as a fifteen year old drummer's energy, this song has the

word "hit" inked in it's original draft.

Sometimes things just fall into place, and sometimes songwriters find themselves stuck in neutral, at a "dead stop" which can be frightening when that means your living.  Fortunately, when the pieces of the puzzle come together, it usually has something to do with that "right" person.  For KU, he has found that person.  Another creative soul who he seems to have connected with on a profound level.  Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman had too much in common to ignore, and it's a good thing, because it did Keith a lot of good and certainly didn't hurt his music either.

Congratulations 2010

AMA Artist of the Year Justin Bieber !

Where do you go at  fifteen or sixteen,  after you've accomplished it all in just one year?  World Peace, The Presidency?  What's left?  Well, let's hope the adults in "The Bieb's" life can give him some direction, and goals for his future, so that he doesn't wind up as so many of his young "Pop" star predecessors have in the past.  He's just too young and too naive to understand what all transpired around him last night.  But still, he did it, and we are so happy for him.  He has obviously survived a grueling schedule over the past year, of rehearsals and unending concert filled arenas... Did Your Favorite Artist Win

At the American Music Awards

h

Several went home with their arms full on Sunday, but let's be honest, the rest of us were looking forward to the elaborate performances, eager to see who would shock us the most.

At New Country Star, we're usually preparing for the AMA's one second after the CMA award's finale. So, we're usually well prepared for the American Music Awards. There will be no time for football, between make-up, nails, and wardrobe, unless Enrique Iglesias sneaks a television into his dressing room.  Yes, the avid sports fan is set to perform two of the hits from his new album, "Euphoria".  Enrique will perform "I Like It" with good friend and rapper Pitbull...
