Ashley Gearing Favorite New Female Vocalist June 2006

Every Once in a while, a new country artist will stand out of the pack of the new rising talent.

Ashley Gearing is this artist.  At a young age of 12, Ashley made history by entering the BillBoard Country Music charts, eclipsing a 46 year long record, previously held by Brenda Lee at the tender age of 13.  The song was "Can You Hear Me When I Talk To You", and it gave Ashley Gearing the exposure and respect she deserves.  One amazing fact is that Ashley may have been 12 when the song charted, but she was actually 11 when the song was recorded.  Since this time, Ashley has been busy making new music and honing her skills at songwriting and playing guitar.  She has earned her way as ASCAP's "UnCut Diamond", as the next country rising star, performed a few times at The Grand Ole Opry, and voted Best Female Country artist in a New Country Artist poll in 2006.

Ashley's singing career actually goes way back and began at the age of 10.  During this time, she has performed with the Boston Pops, Professional Basketball games, The Homecoming Festival for General Tommy Franks and has sung the National Anthem numerous times for the Boston Red  Sox.  This includes the National Playoffs with the Yankees in 2004.  In addition, Ashley has recorded music for the Walt Disney CD series, DISNEYMANIA, with a new version of "When You Wish Upon A Star."

Now, at the age of 15, Ashley Gearing has proven that her talent and ability are beyond her age.  Whether she is performing in front of a festival of 30,000 people or an intimate in-the-round for 40 people, Ashley comes across as a seasoned professional.  She has been a featured guest on numerous radio shows, including the Rick & Bubba Morning Show and the Chris Conn Radio show which is syndicated on 122 stations.

Even more amazing than her musical talent is her connection with her fans.  In just 3 months of maintaining a MySpace music website, she has had more than 255,000 song plays, with an average of 4,000 per day.  With a fan base of 7,000 fans on that site alone, she is a force to be taken seriously.

With the release of her new album, "Maybe It's Time", Ashley has again proven her ability as a song writer and artist.  She co-wrote the song, "Maybe It's Just the Moon" with Stephanie Bentley, and has had incredible album reviews including a recent one by Country Weekly magazine, where they conclude, "It's a striking collection of well-chosen tunes that show off a stunning voice and confident singer who knows - at the still precocious age of 15 - exactly how to use it."   This new album has celebrated sales in Japan, United Kingdom and Brazil.  And now that her sales are climbing on the iTunes website, her music is being enjoyed by people worldwide.

"This is a dream come true", she says.  "This is what I love to do, and I'm enjoying every bit of it.  The support from my family and friends is really wonderful, and I'm especially happy that there are a lot of young people among my fans, because it's great that they know about country music."   It is a relationship sure to grow as Ashley's voice is heard by a wider and wider audience. --- glenn sweitzer
