Bio
“I remember the first time I knew I wanted to be a singer. I was six years old and with my grandfather at a café in France. The owner asked me to sing for a soda. I got up on the table and sang my heart out. It became my regular method of payment each time we went to that café. I loved the feeling I got when I made people smile with my singing. I knew in my heart of hearts this was truly something I wanted to do.”
Now older and more experienced, Danni O’Neill has seen her singing dream become a reality in the form of her debut release Picture Perfect on GMV Records. With an already diverse and accomplished music background, Danni successfully completed her first album with the help of Mark Moffatt, a famed international producer who has worked with the likes of Keith Urban, Deana Carter, INXS and Kylie Minogue.
Born in Coventry, England and raised in Toronto, Canada, Danni spent two years studying Child Psychology at Dalhousie University in Halifax before she started actively pursuing her music career. Deciding to return to England, Danni auditioned for placement at the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts, a fine arts facility started by Paul McCartney. She was one of the 30 students out of 5,000 applicants who made it. She received her diploma in Pop Music and Sound Technology at the Institute, graduating both with honors and high hopes.
During her interim after graduation, she caught the attention of acclaimed producer Raphael Ravencroft (Celine Dion; sax player on Baker Street). Ravencroft worked with Danni to record her first small project at the distinguished Pisces Studio in West London.
Securing her dream and ready to take the next step, Danni left London to head to Nashville where she quickly made friends and connections in the music industry. A friend who was affiliated with Balmur Music Publishing asked Danni to record some demos. These small recordings would ultimately lead to the jumpstart of her career. Danni eventually cut some sides under the supervision and direction of celebrated producer Garth Fundis (Trisha Yearwood; John Michael Montgomery; New Grass Revival). Her demos continued to circulate around the Row and landed in the hands of producer Mark Moffatt, who began working with her in 2002
and helped her join forces with GMV Records.
Time spent recording in the studio, writing songs and travelling back to Canada for live performances has definitely been time well spent. The finished product is a combination of Danni’s passion for great country songs mixed with the experience and training she received in Liverpool. Danni sang rock and pop at the Institute and the genres are combined on Picture Perfect to create a unique new country style and sound.
The ten songs featured on Picture Perfect are energetic and contagious. Although coming from a youthful artist, her songs are riddled with experience and emotion, making them driving-down-the-highway,-singing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs good. Three of the songs, “Take Me Away,” “What Is Me”, and “Breakin It Down” have already hit the Top 40 on the Music Row Country Breakout Chart, receiving substantial national and international airplay as well as high critical acclaim.
Not one to rest on her accomplishments Danni is currently dividing her time between the road and Nashville where she is in preproduction for
her next project with producer Mark Moffat.
