The Lava Girls, beautiful small town identical twins Sara and Erynn Lavagnino, have taken Music City by storm. Born and raised in the small mountain community of Mammoth Lakes, CA, the twins are true California girls with a small town country attitude. Their beauty is undeniable. So how did music become their passion and dream? The girls can attribute that to their loving parents. Growing up in such a small town with not much to do, their dad started instilling them with music, and their talents were apparent almost immediately. With a guitar in hand morning, noon and night, their dad had the girls singing and performing in their home somehow prepping them for starstruck aspirations from the get go. Singing songs from the Judds, Alabama, Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride and LeAnn Rimes, the girls' country roots run deep with the superstars of country music. So how did the girls aim their dreams toward Nashville? Singing around their small hometown at the local fairs, town events and bars, Sara and Erynn began to see that their aspirations needed to be realized on a much bigger stage. They decided to make a trip to Nashville in the Spring of ‘01. That’s where they discovered the place where their dreams were to come true. In just that short visit, they managed to rub shoulders with the likes of Kenny Chesney and the Warren Brothers, who actually recommended the girls make the move from their small town home to the bright lights of Music City.
With that kind of inspiration, the girls were on their way to Nashville by that very summer.
Once in Nashville, they infused their way into the local songwriter scene singing at such venues as Tootsies, The Boardwalk Café, The French Quarter, The Winters Brothers' June Jam and many other places all the greats started their singing careers. Working hard and pushing forward with all of the ups and downs that the music industry brings, the girls have kept their aspirations clear and their determination steadfast. Sara tried out for Nashville Star Season 3 without Erynn because the rules would not allow duos to enter the contest. With all of Erynn’s support, Sara was able to be one of thousands chosen to compete at the region finals. Chosen to be part of such high caliber talent in a pool of only 73 contestants at that stage in the process, Sara wowed the Wildhorse Saloon with her powerful voice and excellent stage presence. Although she ultimately did not make it on the television show, the experience was once in a lifetime and only further proved the Lava Girls belong together on stage.
So what does the future hold for the twins? Well, with one great CD under their belts, they are again teaming up with the same producer and songwriter, Jeff Jones, to complete a second CD featuring the same vocal aptitude and unique twin harmonic
sound that has become the calling card for the Lava Girls.
