Born and raised in rural Louisiana, Memarie's childhood set the stage for what would become a life-long passion for music.   Memarie's love for performing started at age five when she would get off the school bus at her Grandparent's house.   She says, "My grandparents had this huge Magnolia tree in their front yard which for me served many purposes."  "That tree was my clubhouse and monkey bars."  The greatest thing about this tree was the magnolia buds."   "I would pick out the perfect one, tie a long string on the end of it, and use it for a microphone as I sang my favorite song.  "Gingerbread Man", for my Grandfather."  Memarie also started writing songs at an early age.  She explains, "I would write these simple, silly songs I thought were hits.  I still get a good laugh out of them when I find one in an old box somewhere."

Memarie was surrounded by music throughout her childhood.  Her father had a Country/Rock band that rehearsed in their house several days a week.   The very first time he let Memarie perform on stage with him, she was hooked.  The biggest thrill of her childhood came at age nine when her dad's band went into a Mississippi studio to record and album and he let her record a song.  Memarie says that when she listens to that first record, even now, she can still feel the excitement she felt that day in Mississippi.  Memarie moved to Nashville with her parents, at the young age of twelve, while they pursued their music dreams.  However, her parents divorced soon after Memarie graduated high school.  She state, "Being an only-child, the family breakup left me feeling completely devastated and all alone.  In fact, I was going through a personal crossroad in my life, questioning, whether I really wanted to pursue a career in music.   I witnessed the struggles first hand and at that time I knew I wasn't emotionally strong enough to handle the highs and lows of the business.   Although I never lost my love for music, I abandoned my dreams of being a performer."

But several years later, after a lot of soul-searching, Memarie finally decided to not let anything stand in the way of her true love.   She started using her songwriting talent by writing music for her father's successful publishing company.  Over time, she established herself as an accomplished songwriter, writing and co-writing several major cuts, including "He'll Never Be A Lawyer", recorded by George Jones, Ken Mellons and John Anderson.  After achieving some success as a songwriter and learning as much as she could about the business, Memarie decided it was finally time to pursue her dream of being a recording artist.  During this emotional transformation, her father was developing a Nashville-based record label in conjunction with his publishing company.  Memarie knew that in order for her father to ever agree to work with her as an artist, she would have to prove her dedication.  For more than a year, Memarie worked very long hours on her vocals, performing and writing skills.  "This is a very competitive business and I knew she had to give 100% to have any chance of success.  She gave 110%!", adds her father, Jerry Cupit.  The hard work finally paid off when they released her first song to the Christian Country radio market in 2000, "What I He's Right", written by Jerry and performed by Memarie.  It achieved #1 for an impressive eleven straight weeks on that chart.  This success proved that they are, indeed, a great team.

Memarie had success with her song "Leave Me Alone", which she co-wrote with fellow songwriter, Jamie Whiting.  The song reached 45 on the R&R Indicator and the video was played in rotation on GAC.  Memarie also performed many Coca Cola consolidated sponsored shows which kept her schedule moving.  "My most rewarding times are when I am on stage performing.  Music is such an emotional outlet for me and I want people  in my audience to have that experience when they come to my show.  The stage is where I feel most at home."  Memarie really felt at home performing along side acts such as Aaron Tippin, Josh Turner, Billy Rae Cyrus, Blue County and Pin Monkey.  These are just a few of the artists she has enjoyed opening for.

Memarie is looking for 2006 to be even more exciting.  After finishing up her new album, she stated  "Working in the studio is such a fun and creative experience for me.   I learn something new every time I go in."  She also just wrapped up shooting her new music video for her upcoming single, "The Hole in Willie's Guitar".  "I had so much fun making this video.  Sonny Shroyer, otherwise known as Ennis on the "Dukes of Hazard" played a great part in the video.  It was so much fun working with him."  Look for her new single and video,

" The Hole in Willie's Guitar ".
