Paisley Opens with The World

The Dixie Chicks who were featured on 60 Minutes earlier  this month making no apologies for their remarks against the President, were also mentioned.  Emcee Reba McEntire made a bold comedic gesture regarding the "Chicks" singing with a "foot in their mouth ", to which the crowd applauded wildly.  If the Chicks aren't ready to make nice, doesn't sound like country music is ready to either.

The 41st Annual Academy of Country Music Awards Show was no disappointment.  The show opened with an incredible performance by Brad Paisley singing his latest single "The World."  As Paisley sang, large inflatable globes were tossed about in the crowd and kicked off stage by Paisley himself, in an almost duplicate production of the video to the song.   Big Winners included Paisley, Underwood, and  Brooks & Dunn.

Craig Morgan

 Second Motorcycle Accident

After his second motorcycle accident,

on May 14th and recent surgery,

Craig Morgan hasn't let the injury

slow him down at all.   We even found

Craig participating in CMA Fan Fair this

year, but not just performing -

fishing for charity too!

Indie News is big news

Heard of Broken Bow Records?

Well if you haven't, you haven't been listening to anything country.  Jason Aldean, Craig Morgan, and now newcomer Megan Mullins are creating quite a buzz...and why not?   Talent is talent.   Major labels usually have full control when it comes to Billboard's Top 10, but just this week, Aldean's single "Why" topped Billboard's Country Singles.   This isn't the first time

Aldean has hit the Top 10.  He did it

previously with his debut single "Hicktown".  Broken Bow is one Independent label competing

right along side the major country music labels.

  Sony BMG More Departures

ROLF-SCHMIDT HOLTZ
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
SONY BMG MUSIC

ENTERTAINMENT

SONY BMG ARTISTS

Alan Jackson

Gretchen Wilson

Brad Paisley

Miranda Lambert

Van Zant

Phil Vassar

Carrie Underwood

and more....

  Two more Sony executives resign.

This still more fallout from the

  Nashville shocker which came

back in April when Sony BMG

  employees received a memo from

  chief executive Rolf Schmidt-Holtz

  revealing plans to combine RCA

Label Group (RLG) and Sony Music

  Nashville into "a single powerhouse

entity now known as Sony BMG

  Nashville."  Shortly thereafter,

  president John Grady exited

the company on April 21.  With still

  more restructuring, (Chairmen/CEO)

  Don Ienner and (President) Michelle

  Anthony resigned this past Thursday,

June 1st.  Rob Stringer, the current

chairman and CEO of Sony BMG's British

offices, will become the new president

of Sony Music Label Group on

  September 1, 2006.

Congratulations
